Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator

Four separate charges the department publishes as four separate tables: the registration fee as a share of the vehicle’s value, the luxury tax at registration, the transfer fee on a change of ownership, and the penalty for registering late.

Sets the registration fee. A tractor is the one category charged a flat amount instead of a percentage.
The value the department assesses, which may not be your invoice figure.
Charged once at registration, on top of the registration fee. Imported cars pay far more than locally assembled ones of the same size.
Nothing is charged within 30 days. After that the penalty steps, so one day past a boundary costs the whole difference.

What is missing from the official page

Two gaps worth knowing about

The annual token tax

The department's 'Motor Vehicle Tax' table — the lifetime and annual token amounts — is cut off on the published page. It runs through the motorcycle rows and the first car row, then stops mid-entry at 'Motor cars/Jeeps (Non-Commercial) up to 1000cc already registered ... has completed 3 years but not completed 5 years'. The remaining car rows are simply not there. That table is therefore NOT implemented here rather than guessed at, and the annual token tax is not part of this calculator.

Charges the department prices nowhere

The department's own online calculator (excise.gos.pk/online_services/four_wheeler/ and /two_wheeler/) itemises four further charges that its published rate pages do not price. They are real and they will appear on your bill; there is simply no figure for them to transcribe.

Your counter bill will therefore be a little higher than the figure above. Everything this calculator does show comes from a published rate.

Reading the result

Four charges, published separately

The department publishes these as four different tables because they are four different things: the registration fee, the luxury component on larger vehicles, the category-specific treatment for particular vehicle types, and the penalty where registration is late.

Reading one table and assuming it is the total is the usual mistake. A buyer budgeting only the registration fee can be short by a wide margin on a large-engine vehicle.

Vehicle category can matter more than engine size

A double-cabin pickup and an agricultural tractor are treated on their own terms rather than purely on displacement, which is why a vehicle that looks commercial can be charged like a passenger one or the reverse. Identify the category first; the rate follows from it.

Late registration penalties compound the delay

The penalty is not a flat inconvenience — it scales with how late the registration is. A vehicle bought and driven for months before registration accumulates a charge that can exceed the fee it was avoiding.

Where this stops

This is provincial registration and related charges in Sindh. The federal advance income tax at registration is separate and adjustable against your income tax, and the annual token tax is separate again.

The vehicle registration advance tax calculator covers the federal side.

FAQs

Sindh Vehicle Tax FAQs

Is the registration fee really a percentage of the car's value?

Yes, and it is the largest single charge for most buyers. Sindh charges 1% up to 1000 cc, 1.25% to 1300 cc, 2.25% to 2500 cc and 5% above that. On a Rs 10 million car over 2500 cc the registration fee alone is Rs 500,000, before the luxury tax.

What is the luxury tax and when does it bite?

A one-off amount at registration on cars of 1500 cc and above, charged on top of the registration fee. It turns hard on where the car came from: an imported 3000 cc car pays Rs 450,000 where a locally assembled 2000 cc car pays Rs 50,000.

Why is a double-cabin pickup charged more than other commercial vehicles?

Because the schedule names them separately. Toyota Vigo, Revo, Tundra and similar double-cabin vehicles are charged 4% where other commercial vehicles — trucks, buses, pickups, vans, rickshaws, dumpers, excavators and cranes — pay 1.25%, and plain trucks, dumpers and water tankers pay 0.5%.

How is an agricultural tractor charged?

A flat Rs 2,000, not a percentage. It is the only category on the registration schedule that ignores the value of the vehicle, which is why the value field disappears when you pick it.

How does the late registration penalty work?

It steps by the number of days since the Bill of Entry or local invoice: nothing within 30 days, Rs 10,000 to 60 days, Rs 25,000 to 90, Rs 50,000 to 120, Rs 75,000 to 150, Rs 100,000 to 180 and Rs 200,000 beyond that. These are steps rather than a daily rate, so crossing a boundary costs the whole difference at once. Motorcycles and scooters are a flat Rs 5,000 and rickshaws and public transport a flat Rs 10,000, once past 30 days. The scale took effect on 13 February 2025.

Does this include the annual token tax?

No, and deliberately. The department's own Motor Vehicle Tax table is cut off on its published page — it runs through the motorcycle rows and the first car row, then stops mid-entry. Rather than guess the missing amounts, that table is left out and this calculator covers the charges whose schedules are complete.

When is the transfer fee payable?

When ownership of a registered vehicle changes. It is a flat amount by engine band — Rs 500 for a motorcycle up to Rs 7,000 for a car over 3000 cc — and has nothing to do with the vehicle's value.

What about a fancy registration number?

Sindh prices prime numbers separately, from Rs 0.3 million to Rs 2.0 million depending on the letter and digit pattern, with a list of excluded marks. That is a choice rather than a tax, so it is not part of this calculator.

Is this what I will actually pay?

It is what the published schedules produce from what you entered. The assessment made at the registration counter governs, and it turns on the value the department puts on the vehicle, which may not match your invoice.
