iPhone 18 PTA Tax Calculator

Estimate what PTA/DIRBS will charge to register an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max in Pakistan — passport vs CNIC, every storage tier — scaled from the latest published figures, with the reference and the verified duty components shown.

An estimate scaled from a published figure, not a computed total. The published DIRBS totals this page scales are not reproducible from the statutory charges and disagree with each other, so treat the answer as the high end of a range and settle it with the PSID your IMEI generates. Adding up the statutory charges instead — regulatory duty, sales tax, handset levy and Section 148 on a CNIC — lands roughly half as high, about Rs 108,500 on a passport for an iPhone 18 Pro against about Rs 208,000 here; the iPhone PTA Tax Calculator shows that build for every model.
Apple confirmed the 256GB prices on 9 September 2026; the higher tiers are as reported. Picking a model fills the price and the reference below.

iPhone 18 PTA tax estimates by model and storage

ModelUS pricePassport (est.)CNIC (est.)

Scaled from the published iPhone 17 Pro (for 18 Pro) and 17 Pro Max (for 18 Pro Max) DIRBS figures. Verified fixed components above US$500: regulatory duty Rs 17,600 (SRO 1064(I)/2026), Section 148 income tax Rs 11,500; sales tax 25% of assessed value.

Step by step

How the estimate is built

  1. Pick the model

Fills Apple's US price and selects the published iPhone 17 sibling as the reference.

  2. Scale by price

The reference DIRBS total is multiplied by your price ÷ the reference price, for passport and CNIC.

  3. Read the range

FBR values the handset at the PKR/USD rate on payment day, so a ±10% band is shown.

  4. Replace the reference

Once DIRBS lists the iPhone 18, paste that figure into the reference fields and the estimate becomes exact.

Reading the result

An estimate, and honestly labelled as one

For a very recent model the assessed value used by FBR may not yet be settled or published. Where that is the case, part of this calculation rests on the pattern set by comparable models rather than on a confirmed figure.

The page separates what is certain from what is inferred for exactly that reason. Treat the total as a planning figure, not a quotation, until the model appears in the published schedule.

Early adopters carry the uncertainty

Bringing in a phone within weeks of launch means registering before the position is fully settled. If certainty matters more than being first, waiting until the model is listed removes the guesswork entirely.

The passport window still applies

Whatever the final figure, registering against a passport shortly after arrival costs less than registering later against a CNIC. The saving on a flagship is significant, and the window is not long.

Where this stops

PTA's DIRBS portal is the authority on what will actually be charged. Where this page and that portal disagree, the portal is right and this should be updated.

FAQs

iPhone 18 PTA tax FAQs

How much is the PTA tax on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max?

Scaling the latest published DIRBS figures for the iPhone 17 Pro (Rs 190,679 passport / Rs 209,747 CNIC at $1,099) and 17 Pro Max (Rs 204,954 / Rs 225,449 at $1,199) to Apple's launch prices of $1,199 and $1,299 gives roughly Rs 208,000 / Rs 229,000 for the 18 Pro and Rs 222,000 / Rs 244,000 for the 18 Pro Max, 256GB. Higher storage tiers scale further. Treat every figure as ±10% until DIRBS publishes the actual PSID amounts.

Why an estimate rather than the exact figure?

FBR does not publish the full DIRBS formula for phones above US$500 and no calculator reproduces it component by component — sites that try admit the totals are approximate. Rather than invent a breakdown, this page scales a published sibling's figure by price and shows you exactly which figure it used, so you can replace it with a newer one the moment DIRBS lists the iPhone 18.

Which parts of the tax are certain?

Three components are on the statute book for phones above US$500: regulatory duty of Rs 17,600 per set (SRO 1064(I)/2026, cut from Rs 22,000 for Tax Year 2026-2027), sales tax at 25% of the assessed value (Ninth Schedule of the Sales Tax Act), and Section 148 income tax of Rs 11,500 (Income Tax Ordinance, First Schedule Part II). The handset levy and FBR's own valuation of the phone are what the published total captures and this page inherits.

Why is the passport figure lower?

Registering on a passport within the arrival window is charged less than registering the same phone on a CNIC — the published figures show a gap of roughly Rs 19,000–20,000 on the Pro models. The passport route is for travellers and returning overseas Pakistanis; you get one such registration per year.

Can I pay the iPhone 18 PTA tax in instalments?

Yes — the Finance Act 2026 lets an individual paying the tax on an imported phone through DIRBS do so in prescribed instalments, provided every instalment is paid before the end of the financial year in which the phone was imported (Ninth Schedule, Sales Tax Act).

When do the standard iPhone 18, 18e and the foldable launch?

Apple announced only the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max on 9 September 2026 (on sale 18 September). The foldable iPhone Duo follows in October 2026 and the standard iPhone 18 and 18e are expected in spring 2027. Add them here by entering their US price once announced.
